What this division does

Every kind of domestic install

Residential installation is the bulk of our work. It ranges from a single split in a bedroom to a fully zoned ducted system in a new build, and it covers the whole range of equipment: reverse cycle, evaporative, hydronic and heat pump hot water.

The common thread is that the same people do the design, the refrigeration, the electrical and the compliance. There is one job number, one point of contact and one set of certificates at the end rather than three trades pointing at each other.

New builds

Working to the builder’s program, from duct layout at design stage through rough in and fit off. Cheapest time to install anything.

Renovations and extensions

Extending a system into a new part of the house, or deciding it is time to replace rather than extend. We will tell you which.

Replacements

Old system out, new system in, existing infrastructure reused where it is worth reusing and replaced where it is not.

Single room fixes

The western bedroom, the converted garage, the studio out the back. Small jobs done properly rather than treated as filler.

Unfinished work from someone else

Jobs left half done, systems never commissioned, or installations that failed inspection. We assess, quote the completion and stand behind our part of it.

How the division works

What you get from a residential install

We are not a sales operation with subcontracted labour. The person who quotes it works with the people who install it, and they see each other every day.

Sized from measurements

Room by room heat load, not floor area and a guess. It is the single biggest predictor of whether you will be happy in three summers.

Electrical assessed at quote

Switchboard, spare capacity, protection and cable route checked before the price is written, so it is in the quote rather than raised on install day.

Installers who are ours

Directly employed, ARC accredited, and working to the same standards every time. Not a different crew from a labour pool each week.

Certificates and warranty in writing

Electrical compliance, refrigeration handling and the warranty terms all documented and handed over rather than promised.

The process

How a residential job runs

1. Call or enquiry

Suburb, house type and what you are trying to fix. Often we can narrow the options in one conversation.

2. Free site visit

Measure, look in the roof, check the board, discuss equipment positions. No charge and no obligation.

3. Written quote

Models, capacities, inclusions, exclusions, rebate position and a day count. Options priced separately where there are options.

4. Install and hand over

Our crew, our electricians, certificates issued and a proper handover on how to run the system efficiently.

Building, renovating or replacing?

Ring us early. Decisions made before the plaster goes on are cheaper than decisions made after.

What we install

Equipment across the range

We are a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer for Geelong and the Bellarine, which gives us access to the full range and a direct warranty channel. We install other brands as well, and we will recommend against a Mitsubishi Electric system where something else fits the house better.

Split systems

from $2,000 installed

Multi head systems

from $5,500 installed

Ducted reverse cycle

from $11,000 installed

Evaporative cooling

from $3,200 installed

Hydronic heating

from $12,000 installed

Heat pump hot water

from $3,500 installed

Starting prices, indicative only and current at the time of writing. Several of these attract a discount under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program depending on the equipment being replaced and the current program rules. We check eligibility for your property before you commit.

What we need from you

To give you an accurate price

The house, not just the room

Construction type, age, insulation and which way the main living areas face. It changes the sizing more than people expect.

Where the equipment can go

Outdoor unit position, roof access and switchboard location. Photos of all three save a site visit on simple jobs.

What is there now

Age and type of the existing system, if there is one. It affects both the work and any rebate position.

When you need it

Summer lead times are long. Telling us the timeframe early means we can be honest about whether we can meet it.

Service area

Where we work

Residential installation covers our full service area: Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, the Surf Coast and the towns out along the highways including Lara, Bannockburn, Winchelsea, Inverleigh, Teesdale, Anakie, Meredith, Colac and Lorne.

Site visits within the main service area are free.

Do you work with builders on new homes?

Yes, and it is a large part of what this division does. We work to the builder’s program, coordinate rough in around the frame and lock up stages, and come back for the fit off. Getting involved at design stage rather than after the plaster is on usually improves the outcome and reduces the cost.

Can you install a system I have bought myself?

We can, but we will want to check it is the right capacity and that it is a model we can support before we agree. If it is undersized for the room, installing it well will not fix that, and you will be unhappy with a system we put in. We will tell you before we take the job, not after.

Do you do the electrical work or subcontract it?

Our own people. We hold ARC refrigerant handling accreditation, we are an Accredited Master Electrician, we are registered with Energy Safe Victoria and we are an ACRS Master Cabler. Refrigeration, electrical and cabling all sit under one job number and one set of certificates.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Outside summer, one to three weeks for most residential work. From December through February, lead times stretch considerably because everyone rings on the same hot week. If you know a room is going to be a problem, autumn and early winter are the cheapest and quickest times to book.

What warranty applies?

Manufacturer warranty on the equipment, which for the Mitsubishi Electric range we install is handled through our Diamond Dealer channel rather than a general call centre, plus our own workmanship warranty on the installation. Both are stated on the quote so you are not relying on a conversation.

Can you take on a job the previous installer walked away from?

Yes, and we do it more often than you would think. Half finished installations, systems that were never commissioned properly and jobs abandoned mid way all come to us. We will assess what is there, tell you what is salvageable and quote the completion as its own job. We will not pretend the earlier work was fine if it was not.
