Frequently asked questions
Open a question below for the short answer.
Do you charge for a quote or a site visit?
No. Site visits and written quotes within our service area are free and there is no obligation. We would rather inspect the roof space and switchboard than give you a number that has to be revised later.
What areas do you cover?
Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast, plus Lara, Bannockburn, Winchelsea, Inverleigh, Teesdale, Anakie, Meredith, Colac and Lorne. If your town is not listed, call and ask.
Do you service brands you did not install?
Yes. Our servicing division works on all brands regardless of who installed the equipment, including systems fitted by companies that have since closed.
What accreditations do you hold?
We hold ARC refrigerant handling accreditation, are an Accredited Master Electrician, are registered with Energy Safe Victoria, and are an ACRS Master Cabler. We are also a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealer for Geelong and the Bellarine.
How long does an installation take?
A straightforward split system is usually a half day. More involved splits can take most of a day. A ducted system in an existing home is normally two days, sometimes three; hydronic retrofits generally take three to five days.
Do you do the electrical work or subcontract it?
Our own people do it. Refrigeration, electrical work, switchboard work and control cabling sit under one job number, with the relevant compliance certificates issued by us.
How do Victorian Energy Upgrades rebates work?
Eligible high-efficiency equipment can generate certificates whose value is passed to you as a discount. Eligibility and value depend on the property, equipment and current program rules, so we confirm the position in writing before you commit.
How often should a system be serviced?
Annually for most residential systems. Evaporative systems are best serviced in spring; reverse-cycle systems in autumn. Coastal properties and commercial equipment may need more frequent attention.
My system is not cooling. Is it out of gas?
Less often than people assume. Low refrigerant means there is a leak, but blocked filters, a failed capacitor, dirty coils or a faulty sensor can look similar. We diagnose the fault before touching the refrigerant.
Should I repair or replace an old system?
It depends on its age, refrigerant type and the failed component. We explain the repair and replacement options so you can compare the likely remaining life against the cost.
Can you work on rental properties?
Yes. We coordinate access with tenants and work with rental providers and agents across Geelong, including quoting repairs against an agent’s approval threshold.
What is the best time of year to book?
Autumn and early winter are easiest. Lead times stretch from December through February because demand spikes during hot weather.
Still not sure?
Questions about a specific house are often faster to answer by phone. If you know roughly when the property was built, what system it has now and which way the living area faces, we can usually give you useful direction in five minutes.
